Okay ladies let’s discuss non processed and healthy ingredients to boost hydration, lactation and recovery!
Now that we are so close to the finish I cannot wait to get back into a better eating and exercise routine.
I’ve been drinking sugar free liquid IV for electrolytes and I’ve seen there’s “lactation cookies” and all these different snacks that help with milk supply but they’re expensiveeeee and I was wondering what are the secret ingredients to homemade electrolyte drinks and snacks!!
Lemon & salt water? Oatmeal bites with flaxseed? Spill!!

I just had a meeting with my IBCLC about this. She said lactation cookies and snacks are a scam, there are no ingredients that boost milk supply. She said make healthy snacks, keep rested as much as possible, and stay hydrated. That being said I’ve made keto oat date bars, peanut butter flax balls, and the normal snacks I stock my freezer with in bulk. There’s also a Chinese date tea that’s supposed to help with collagen and healing with goji berries im making little sachets of. No clue about any of it but worth a shot

I make sort of a homemade lemonade Gatorade when im sick that always hits the spot. I'm going to try making a bunch for postpartum this time. I usually estimate the amounts, but I think this is close:
1 cup water
1 cup of coconut water
half a squeezed lemon
tablespoon of honey
pinch or 2 of pink Himalayan salt.

I’ve heard coconut water is good for hydration so I mix about 6oz of coconut water with 6oz of POG nectar (passion fruit, orange, guava) from Costco with lots of ice and it is delicious and hopefully hydrating! Apparently the best way to keep good milk supply is hydration, rest, and keeping those calories coming. Also, try to stay calm and not stressed bc you need the happy hormones to produce milk.
Of course, I’ve never successfully breastfed and these are just my conclusions after reading a lot of info so, do what you will with my comment. lol.

I have found coconut water, oat milk and oats to be helpful while breastfeeding. This time around, I’m trying the brands Cure (hydration) and Bare Bones (powdered bone broth). I also plan to have some canned oat milk lattes and mush overnight oats around. Obviously, some of these things are more sugar than the others, but I think in general, just feeding yourself regularly and making yourself a priority or some of the best things you can do.

Coconut water, body armour drinks and Perfect protein bars really kept me hydrated and fed on our 6 month pumping journey last time! Who knows if they had impact alone but I ended up with an oversupply and pumped 50-60 oz a day. Agree that rest is also an important factor! Try to sleep when you can and it’ll help milk production.

When I was nursing my first, I craved fresh fruit, specifically strawberries and watermelon. The amount of strawberries and watermelon I would eat in a day … wow lol. I think that really helped with my hydration, so I’m really hoping that the fresh fruit craving while nursing sticks with this baby too!

I do some Trace Minerals and a pinch of salt in orange juice for hydration. Coconut water would be another good one!
Earthley has a clean electrolyte mix if you don’t want to make your own.

LMNT and oatmeal! Just get your calories from Whole Foods and drink a ton of water!!! I don’t believe in lactation cookies and snacks. Just overpriced and will make you gain weight!

With my first 2 I ended up drinking a lot of fruit infusion waters and non dairy smoothies. From there it was just keeping up with the prenatals and keeping healthy protein options in the house so I didn't immediately revert to eating pasta every day.
